Montclair State University College ID Camp

Montclair State University Men’s Soccer. As the program has grown, we’ve received a lot of interest from New Jersey players, and because we’re so busy with the day-to-day operations of running a college program, it can be almost impossible to really get a chance to evaluate all these players fairly. That’s why last year we began our “Montclair State University Men’s Soccer ID Camp” with the goal of introducing players to what training and life is like as a college soccer player, and hopefully finding players that would be a good fit for our program.

Last year’s camp was a huge success, we had over 60 players, and were overall happy with the level. After camp there were several kids who attended that we actively recruited during the course of the season, and one who will be playing for us this coming Fall. We’re hoping to replicate that success with this year’s event.

Because it is impossible for us to cast the net wide enough to reach every prospective student athlete in the state, we decided to reach out to coaches to help us. Do you have any high-school aged players who you think might be a good fit for us? If so, we’d love your help in opening the lines of communication, and hopefully giving us a chance to watch what they can do at our camp.

We’ve also opened the group to any high school aged players, with the idea that some sophomores and juniors may be interested in a first taste of college soccer. At the camp our college staff will run three training sessions in the morning (30-45 minutes each), followed by a break for lunch, and a time for players to explore campus and see our locker room facilities and training fields. After lunch, we’ll split the boys up and allow them to play to goal in an 8v8 or 9v9 setting, this way we get to both coach them and watch them compete throughout the day. The training sessions, with a couple of small exceptions, mirror what we do with our college team, so it should be a good introduction for interested players.

I’ve attached our ID Camp Flyer to this email, so that you can distribute it to your team or send it to any players specifically that you know a
